SHORT BIO Lance Cardinal is a First Nations (2-Spirit) artist, designer, entrepreneur, and television personality from the Bigstone Cree Nation in treaty 8 territory. He has quickly become one of Alberta’s most well known Indigenous artists. His diverse 30-year career in the arts has allowed him to work with world class organizations all over Canada, including Edmonton Oilers, IKEA Canada, Kunitz Shoes, Rugby Canada, Fort Edmonton Park, Telus World of Science and many more. His award winning murals and design projects are bringing a fresh narrative to contemporary Indigenous representation, highlighting a positive perspective in public spaces all over Alberta.

Lance is a mural artist and has created works in public spaces all over Alberta. You can see his murals at the Telus World Of Science, Re-Max Field, Edmonton Public library, The Works Festival Office, MacEwan University, Grande Prairie Hospital and much more. He has recently finished an 85 foot tall mural with Avenue Living that will be featured on their new “Sunrise” tower which was awarded the Guinness Book of World Record as the largest solar panel artwork in the world!
Lance is also very proud to be contributing his creativity to the Sports world. He is the Indigenous consultant and designer for the Edmonton Oilers, writing the pre-game land acknowledgement video and designing the incredibly popular Turtle Island Indigenous team logo. He was also honoured to be the designer of the gold, silver and bronze medals for the Canada’s World Rugby Sevens Series, hosted here in Edmonton in 2021!
Lance has also worked as a design collaborator, bringing Indigenous culture and aesthetics into interior design and fashion. His recent shoe collection/collaboration with Kunitz Shoes (Now in collections at the Royal Alberta Museum) was an enormous success, selling out in 2 days and raising money for the MMIWG movement. His partnership with IKEA Edmonton resulted in the first ever First Nations Mural and the GROUNDBREAKING Indigenous Family Showcase room. Lance also worked with UNBELTS here in Edmonton to create an Indigenous belt for all sizes!
Lance is also a public figure, content creator, and an award winning television personality. His regular featured segment on CTV Morning Live Edmonton shares creative ideas for bringing Indigenous culture and esthetics into everyday life. His kids show, Indigenous Art Adventures is a Mr. Dress-Up style kids’ program that brings families together through art, culture, and language. It is now in season 2 on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) and recently won a Canadian Screen Award for best children’s series!
